5/30 - 6/1 -- Whistles, Wings and Wildflower Train
Cass Scenic Railroad State Park
Experienced birders and expert outdoor-enthusiasts will be on hand to lead discussion groups, guide botany walks, and host birding hikes! The weekend event offers fledgling birders and nature lovers a chance to learn about birds and other natural elements right here in Pocahontas County. In addition to birding, the weekend includes demonstrations, slide shows, and displays of bird life as well as topics relating to the environment and ecology of the unique wildlife population in Pocahontas County – on the western front of the Allegheny Mountains. The weekend will be packed with events with a fantastic variety of lectures, question and answer sessions, and hands on displays all based with a stone’s throw of the famous Greenbrier River Trail. Ride the train up the mountain where naturalist guides will take you on a special wildflower hike and birding hikes. Bring your cameras and your hiking boots and be at the train by 6:30 a.m. Call for reservations.

Join us for a guided tour though parts of NRAO normally off limits to visitors, like lab areas where sensitive receivers are designed and built. Space limited to 15 per program; one hour and cost is $3.00
