Mountain Biking

We've not been coined "Nature's Mountain Playground" for nothing.

With nearly 350 thousand acres of state or federal land, Pocahontas County boasts hundreds of miles of legendary trails. Whether you're a regular seeking to go full throttle, or just getting used to the sport - Nature's Mountain Playground has a trail for everyone. Try the beginner trails that circle the world's largest steerable radio telescope at Green Bank Observatory, or cruise the Greenbrier River Trail State Park. If you're seeking to get the adrenaline pumping, head to Snowshoe Mountain Bike Park, or the Snowshoe Mountain Gravity Park for some real challenges.

And, don't miss out on the ultimate epic trail - "Gauley Mountain Trail," an IMBA designated Epic Trail" in the heart of the Monongahela National Forest. For more information, click here.

Home to the National Radio Quiet Zone and the Monongahela National Forest, mountain biking in Pocahontas County features rugged, off-the-beaten path terrain. But don't worry, from mountain biking friendly lodging, to mouthwatering food and drink options and helpful outfitters, we have everything you need to feel right at home here in the mountains of West Virginia.
