Check out these 2019 Events Happening This Summer & Fall:
One of the most popular offerings is the Forest Herbs weekend July 12-14. Participants learn about and engage with the medicinal herbs native to our Appalachian region. The weekend will be hosted by a team of expert woods interpreters and medicine-makers, Paul Strauss, Alana Galt-Theis, and Tanner Filyaw from Equinox Botanicals & Rural Action.
On July 27, a Mushroom Foray will be led by mushroom specialist Max Dubanski. Just as colorful and fun as a giant Easter Egg Hunt in the woods, participants will fan out through the forest collecting and identifying wild fungus. Back at the lodge, they’ll make careful identifications, and learn more about our mysterious and beautiful fungi-sphere. A mushroom dinner and live music will cap the experience.
The hills will come alive with the sound of string music August 8-12 with the Midsummer Strings camp and concerts. String players of all stripes will come together for creative and collaborative musical experiences and lots of outdoor fun. The faculty concert August 11th features world-class string musicians playing classical and folk music and is free to the public.
As summer winds to a close, Wild Wonderful Women in the Woods will gather to welcome fall colors to the mountains September 20-22 at a restorative, creative retreat. With plenty of activities to choose from and the option to joyfully do none of them, women choose the experience that brings the greatest happiness while being pampered with nourishing meals and cozy private rooms or beautiful campsites.

Directions
Please do not rely on GPS devices to find the Yew Mountain Center. Cellular service is unreliable in our area and the directions may send you up a treacherous old logging road. The Yew Mountain Center is on a paved, well-maintained county road. It is a winding, narrow road, so we suggest traveling slowly and enjoying the scenery. In the winter, contact us for current road conditions.
