The festival showcases the talents of regional artisans, offering the opportunity to shop for one-of-a-kind handmade crafts and gifts. Foodies will be in heaven as they sample wild game dishes prepared by daring cooks in the WV RoadKill Cook-Off. For just $5, you can get a wristband to savor these inventive and creative dishes and cast your vote for the best one.
Enjoy the bustling atmosphere with live mountain music throughout the day and a chance to participate in the Possum Trot 5K – a fun run or walk along the scenic Greenbrier River Trail. On Friday night, join the Rockin’ Square Dance at the Pocahontas County Opera House. For those seeking retail therapy, The Shops at Rivertown will feature artist demonstrations and live music, with a new café and upstairs stores to explore. Additionally, there’s a chance to rejuvenate with Saturday morning yoga sessions.
The schedule includes the Rockin’ RoadKill Square Dance on Friday, September 22, from 7 to 9 p.m., and the festival officially kicks off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, with the WV RoadKill Cook-Off winners being announced at 4 p.m. This is a weekend of celebration that you won’t want to miss!

The ambiance is set with live music by the talented Bing Brothers and Jake Krack, creating the perfect backdrop for the Cranberry Mountain old-time square dancing. Get ready to hit the dance floor at 1:30 p.m., with expert caller Lou Maiuri guiding you through the steps. For those interested in arts and crafts, there will be demonstrations for blacksmithing, pottery, spinning wheel craftsmanship and woodturning to explore. Huntersville Traditions Day

This annual festival in Huntersville, the first county seat of Pocahontas County, offers a glimpse into the region’s history. Enjoy mountain music, cloggers and a country dinner on Friday night. Saturday is packed with old-time country music, wagon rides and demonstrations, including blacksmithing, quilting, chair canning, broom-making and wool spinning. Explore the Civil War encampment, take tours of the Huntersville Jail and Museum and visit the Presbyterian Church, which served as a Civil War hospital.
Halloween Fun at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park

Visit Cass Scenic Railroad State Park for family-friendly Halloween festivities. Show off your Halloween spirit in a costume contest. Judges will be on the lookout for the best superheroes, cutest costumes, scariest outfits and funniest attire. Participants of all ages are encouraged to join in the fun!
Following the costume contest, head out on a traditional Halloween adventure with trick-or-treating from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The route takes you to the Cass Company Store, Shay Restaurant and Main Street Company Houses.
CW’s Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch

Just a brief five-minute drive from Cass Scenic Railroad, CW’s Corn Maze is the quintessential fall spot with its expansive 10-acre corn mazes.
