Hammons Family Fiddle and Banjo Contest

Celebrate Appalachian music in Marlinton with the annual Fiddle & Banjo Contest, featuring top talents competing in All-style Fiddle and Traditional/Bluegrass Banjo divisions. Cash prizes, ribbons, and youth awards are up for grabs, including West Virginia’s largest contest prize. Beyond the stage, impromptu jam sessions fill the town with music, honoring the rich heritage of the Hammons family and the region’s deep-rooted traditions.

Friday, 7–9 p.m. – Warm up with a Square Dance at the Opera House  with The Nightcrawlers & Friends featuring legendary caller Lou Maiuri. (Bring your best twirl.)

Saturday, All Day – Where else can you brag about eating at the West Virginia Roadkill Cook-Off & Autumn Harvest Festival? Don’t knock it ’til you try it.

Saturday, All Day – Cap it off with toe-tapping tunes at the 4th Annual Hammons Family Fiddle & Banjo Contest & World-Class Jam.
