Welcome to Pocahontas County, WV, in the heart of the musical traditions of the Allegheny Mountains, and the First Annual Hammons Family Fiddle & Banjo Contests, held July 9th, 2022 in Marlinton!
The contests are named in honor of the county’s most celebrated traditional musicians, who for generations lived life back in the mountains and played a unique style of music which is now known across the world. These contests will have four divisions: old time fiddle, bluegrass fiddle, banjo and youth. Admission is free.
The event will be held in the beautiful Discovery Junction outdoor performance space. Registration will start at 10 a.m. and the contests will finish by 5 p.m. In the evening, there will be a free concert by the outstanding traditional bluegrass band, Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass.
