Seasonal Information Specialist – Durbin Visitor Center

The Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau is hiring two seasonal Information Specialist positions for the 2022 summer/fall season at the Durbin Visitor Center and Arts Center 

Weekends are required; to be filled immediately and will be full time through October.  Training will be provided. 

Applicants must possess exceptional hospitality skills and demonstrate strong ability to learn and share information about Pocahontas County, attractions, train schedules, etc. and promote local businesses and services to visitors.  Applicants must be able to work independently, be reliable and uphold a high standard of hospitality and professionalism.    Pay rate will $10-$12/hour based on experience.

Seasonal Information Specialist – Green Bank Observatory

The Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau is hiring a seasonal Information Specialist positions for the 2022 summer/fall season to staff the satellite visitor center at the Green Bank Observatory 

Weekends are required to be filled immediately and will be full time through October Thursday-Monday.  Training will be provided. Covid protocols will be in place for this position including masking indoors and applicants for this position must provide proof of full covid vaccination status. 

Applicants must possess exceptional hospitality skills and demonstrate strong ability to learn and share information about Pocahontas County, attractions, train schedules, etc. and promote local businesses and services to visitors.  Applicants must be able to work independently, be reliable and uphold a high standard of hospitality and professionalism.    Pay rate will $10-$12/hour based on experience.

The Town of Marlinton is now looking to hire a Recreation Economy Coordinator (REC) AmeriCorps VISTA member.

This position is a full-time one year commitment with the opportunity to renew as the project runs for three years.

This dynamic position will focus heavily on building partnerships with local community members, volunteers, and organizations, as well as implementing cool projects that are aligned with the Town’s Comprehensive Management Plan. The Town of Marlinton and the community group, “Marlinton Listens,” are working to build a healthy, vibrant community that reflects the origins of the town, celebrates its history, and charts a new course for its future. The member will serve as a liaison between the Town and multiple community partners who share this goal. Through their service, the member will be a vital component to building capacity for the Town by facilitating community engagement efforts, building community partnerships, creating and implementing systems for project tracking, and volunteer/event coordination. Nestled in the heart of the Monongahela National Forest and the Snowshoe Highlands IMBA Ride Center, Marlinton is an outdoor paradise. Together, we can work at improving the quality of life for residents while marketing the Town as a hub and destination for outdoor recreation. Together, we are building an economy where nature, visitors, and recreation thrive. This position is ideal for an individual who has a passion for the outdoors, building strong community, and thinking big. This position will start on June 6th, July 5th, or July 8th, 2022, depending on candidate availability.
