Seneca State Forest offers peace and solitude for guests and families looking to get away from the hustle and bustle. Seneca State Forest is located in the National Radio Quiet Zone, 13,000 square miles of land federally protected from artificial radio wave interference so the secrets of the universe can be overheard by the Green Bank Telescope, housed at the Green Bank Observatory (less than 8 miles Northeast of Seneca State Forest).
Nearby attractions also include scenic train rides at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, biking and hiking opportunities along the award-winning rail-trail Greenbrier River Trail State Park, or enjoy outdoor activities, outstanding amenities and more at Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
Seneca State Forest offers eight primitive cabins, which give guests an experience of living in the rugged outdoors without plumbing and electricity. All cabins are fully furnished and equipped for basic housekeeping.
The famous Seneca State Forest Fire Tower is also available to rent for overnight stays! Undoubtably one of West Virginia State Parks most iconic attractions, the Seneca State Forest Fire Tower is a 65-foot tower that provides jaw-dropping, unobstructed 360 degree views of the forest and night sky. The Seneca State Forest Fire Tower can be reserved for overnight stays between May-October. The tower offers two cots and can accommodate up to four people. Guests should make reservations up to a year in advance due to attraction popularity! Make your reservation now by calling (304)799-6213.
Seneca State Forest also houses a 10 site campground for guests who prefer to camp! Sites are secluded, and offer trailer pads, picnic tables and fireplaces. Campers may use the coin-operated laundry and guest showers at the Seneca State Forest Office located at the entrance of the forest. West Virginia State Park campgrounds are available reservations only Memorial Day-Labor Day. Campgrounds are then open on a first-come, first-serve basis after Labor Day.
