Thank you for visiting our website and planning your future trip with us. So many of us, from community members, to tourism partners and travelers, call Nature’s Mountain Playground home. Whether you’re rooted here, you pass through, or you vacation here year after year, one thing we all share is this – we love Pocahontas County, West Virginia.

As we begin to see the reopening of states and we begin to travel again, please know that you, the traveler, are important to Pocahontas County WV. Health safety and well being is a priority for the Pocahontas County Convention & Visitor Bureau and all our tourism partners and businesses. We have implemented the CDC and West Virginia guidelines, recommendations and best practices protocols for each of our business segments all for the safety of our customers, guests, visitors and our staff, our friends, our families and our community – the things we know are irreplaceable.
Travelers who love to visit Nature’s Mountain Playground have a responsibility too that will ensure we all stay healthy as we all learn to live with COVID-19. Please stay home, if you are sick or have known contact with anyone with Covid 19. Our place will be here for you when you are healthy and safe to visit. When you do travel to Pocahontas County, WV we ask that you adopt new travel practices and follow CDC & West Virginia guidelines our businesses have implemented for their customers, visitors and guests safety. This will reassure everyone and help protect you, your family, travelers around you and after you, staff assisting you, our families and all of us in the community. If you are lodging in the county, please contact the lodging establishment in advance to know their protocols . Please bring a mask with you. Please bring hand sanitizer with you. UPDATE on operations in Nature’s Mountain Playground:
The COVID-19 has brought many changes to how we operate. Please be patient as our businesses and attractions reopen at their own pace and in compliance with state directives.
Our Marlinton Visitor Center operations will resume as soon as it is safe to bring back staff and open to the public. Please call 304-799-4636 for assistance.
Our anchor attractions such as Snowshoe Mountain, excursion trains and Green Bank Science Center will be announcing opening dates on their websites. Visit those links below.
Most of our outdoor activities are open. Trails at the state parks, state forests, Monongahela National Forest, Green Bank Observatory are open for use.
Please check with each park for campground protocols and other travel alerts for park cabin rentals.
Most summer events are canceled or postponed. Check our event calendar for available information.
